Integrating Health, Hauora Maori and Social Care

Whānau Tahi leading the discussion on Integrating Health, Hauora Māori, and Social Care at 2023 Digital Health Leadership Summit.

Whānau Tahi recently attended the Digital Health Leadership Summit, organised by Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ). We met with and engaged in discussions with leaders from Aotearoa's health sector, and hosted a series of round-table workshops on the topic of Integrating Health, Hauora Māori (the holistic well-being of Māori people), and Social Care.

In all we ran ten forty minute round-table workshops. The conversations at our table were eye-opening and allowed participants to share their stories, experiences, and ask questions about changing the health system to be more inclusive, integrated with Māori and other community organisations, and be whānau led . We delved into the challenges and issues we've encountered and discussed our aspirations and thoughts on a whānau and outcomes centred approach to whānau wellbeing.

We noticed common themes and goals emerging from participants over the course of our workshops. There is strong interest in sharing knowledge, driving innovation, collaborating with trustworthy individuals and communities, and improving existing policies and practices and many more.

The summit provided a platform for professionals from different backgrounds to come together, exchange knowledge, and work towards a better future for healthcare in New Zealand. We are grateful to HiNZ for the invitation to lead this topic, recognising our unique and leadership role in this space. We received good feedback about our collaborative and forward-thinking approach at this gathering.

If you're eager to learn more about the insights we gained from the Digital Health Leadership Summit, then stay tuned! We will be sharing more about our learnings and experiences in the near future.
