Titiro whakamuri kia anga whakamua

At the heart of the recent Regional Conference was the powerful theme, "Titiro whakamuri kia anga whakamua – Look to the past in order to move forward." This resonant theme sparked engaging discussions and reflections, underscoring the importance of understanding our roots to pave the way for a brighter future.

A powerful question that was asked of us was: “Who are the whānau that we serve?” Understanding the unique dynamics, challenges, and aspirations of the communities we work with is fundamental to creating effective and culturally sensitive wellbeing initiatives.

Tureia Moxon and Matthew Heward spoke about the value of the Whānau Tahi Navigator that serves as a vital bridge between the invaluable stories captured by Kairahi/Kaimahi and the data that drives informed decision-making. By utilizing the Navigator, we empower Kairahi/Kaimahi to weave a narrative around the health and well-being of whānau, providing a holistic understanding that goes beyond statistics.

The Whānau Tahi Navigator not only streamlines data management but also adds a human touch to the information collected. It allows Kairahi to tell compelling stories that encapsulate the essence of the communities they serve.

As we embrace the insights gained from the conference, it becomes clear that the path to a healthier future involves honoring the past and understanding the present. The Whānau Tahi Navigator emerges as a beacon, guiding us in this journey by ensuring that the stories of whānau are not only heard but also integrated into the fabric of our approach to community health.
