Strengthening Whanaungatanga Through Innovation: Whānau Tahi Joins Refocus Community Health Event

We were honoured to be invited by Refocus Australia to take part in a special community event — marking the first time Whānau Tahi has connected with their team following their visit to Aotearoa.

This was a beautiful opportunity to spend time with their kaimahi and the wider community, sharing space, stories, and our digital tools that support whānau-centred care.

At the Community Health Event, our team used the Coala Heart Monitor to complete around 100 heart checks. Several attendees were advised to follow up with their GP or visit the nearest community hospital for further evaluation — a great result that shows the power of early detection and accessible technology.

We also brought the MedWand, continuing our journey of exploring how remote diagnostics can support whānau in rural and underserved areas.

This visit was about more than devices — it was about whanaungatanga, building relationships, and supporting the incredible mahi Refocus is doing every day.
